The founders were then two happy wine waiters studying food science at the University of Copenhagen. We both dreamed of making wine. But since they were far from vines and south-facing slopes, in a country where the climate gives them some of the world's best apples year after year, it made more sense to throw themselves into the cider. Only problem: they didn't have any apples.
Hugo Mendes Wines
Born and raised in Ribeira de Santarém, Hugo Mendes studied Biotechnological Engineering but his passion for wines spoke louder and since the 2006 harvest he has dedicated himself entirely to oenology.
Lethbridge Wines
Maree Collis and Ray Nadeson are not your average winemaker/owners of a boutique winery. Both were initially trained as research scientists and hold PhD degrees in chemistry and medicine, respectively. Mid career they made the decision to pursue their alternate passion and together with friend Adrian Thomas established Lethbridge Wines in 1996.
