Wines of the Month
A Date with South African Heritage
Twelve bottles, four styles, one very strong showing for South African wine this month. July's lineup leans hard into the small, independent producers we love putting in front of you — old bush vines, single-vineyard Pinotage, a couple of genuinely exciting Cape Blends, and one outlier all the way from Stellenbosch's Gewürztraminer corner.
Start light with our Sparkling and White picks: a Perdeberg Chenin from old, dry-farmed vines, a wonderfully aromatic Swansong Gewürztraminer from Orpheus & The Raven, Kaapzicht's bush vine Kliprug Chenin, and a more structured Henning Chenin from Villion. From there, ease into our Light to Medium Reds — Kaapzicht's Skraalhans Pinotage and Bellevue Estate's 1952 Cinsault, both built for easy, chillable drinking. And if you're after something with real weight, our Full Reds close out the month: two distinct expressions from Orpheus & The Raven (a Cape Blend and a single-vineyard Pinotage), Rainbow's End's Cabernet Sauvignon and Limited Release Cabernet Franc, and Bellevue Estate's Reserve and Heritage Pinotage for anyone chasing serious South African red.
As always, each Wine of the Month pick is available at a special price for the month only — a great way to taste your way through a region without committing to a full case
