Radikon Ribolla Gialla 2020
Stanko Radikon spent the 1990s unlearning modern winemaking, and Friuli's orange wine revival has never looked back since.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Ribolla Gialla from Radikon's own vines in the hills of Oslavia, Friuli, right on the Slovenian border. The soil here is called 'ponca' (or flysch) in dialect — layered clay and sandstone laid down on a prehistoric seabed, and the source of the wine's persistent mineral streak. Ribolla Gialla has been planted on this exact ground since the family's grandfather's generation in the early 1900s.
Taste Profile: Hazy orange in colour, with explosive aromas of quince, dried apricot, fresh orange zest and pressed wildflowers. The palate is rich, full-bodied and finely tannic, with bracing acidity that keeps all that density surprisingly fresh. Big flavours of mature apricot, candied tangerine zest and ginger carry through a long, mineral finish.
Winemaking Process: Grapes are handpicked at optimum ripeness, then macerated on the skins for 4 months — a red-winemaking technique applied to a white grape. The wine ages 2 years in barrel and a further 3 years in bottle before release, with no added sulphur.
Winemaker: Stanko Radikon took over the family estate as a teenager and began estate-bottling with the 1979 vintage. In 1995, unsatisfied with the direction of modern white winemaking, he returned to the method his grandfather once used — weeks or months of skin contact for white grapes, just like a red. He made 36 vintages before he passed away in 2016; his son Saša, who grew up in the vineyards and learned more in the cellar than in his oenology studies, now carries the estate forward.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
