Anatolikos Vineyards Natural Orange Wine 2020
An amphora-aged orange wine from the same brothers who revived a 2,000-year-old Thracian wine region.
Grape Varietals & Region: Assyrtiko and 20% Malagousia from vineyards in the village of Avdira, Thrace, Greece. The vines grow in sandy hills over stony subsoil, 3km from the sea, in a Mediterranean climate cooled by east winds and moderate temperatures.
Taste Profile: Amber with orange shades, and an intense, aromatic nose of walnut, roasted almond, orange citrus, sourdough and nutmeg. Full-bodied and dry, with an oily texture, gentle tannins and balanced acidity; complex flavours of sweet orange citrus, apricot jam, acacia honey, cardamom, butter and nuts linger in an endless finish. An evolutionary wine — best sipped slowly.
Winemaking Process: Hand-harvested in late September, then long-fermented in traditional unglazed, unsealed Greek amphorae with the marc and native yeasts, allowing micro-oxygenation throughout. The marcs are pressed by hand, and the wine matures in amphora with the marc for 370 days without sulphation, unfiltered before bottling.
Winemaker: Brothers Sakis and Marios Nikolaidis founded Anatolikos in 2005 on a site in Avdira they'd begun replanting in 2000, reviving a Thracian wine tradition that stretches back over 2,000 years. This orange wine leans hardest into that ancient heritage, using unglazed amphorae the way Thrace's earliest winemakers would have, rather than reaching for stainless steel or oak.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
