Radford Dale The Renaissance of Chenin Blanc 2022
The rebirth of an underdog — from low-caste grape to South Africa's most noble white.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Chenin Blanc from a single block of old bush vines at the foot of Helderberg Mountain, Stellenbosch, South Africa, facing southeast across False Bay. The vines grow high on a steep slope in slightly decomposed granite with patches of pure quartz near the top — old, gnarly vines yielding small, concentrated berries.
Taste Profile: Medium gold colour, all subtlety and finesse. Ripe apricot, honey and cooked apple aromas, with a hint of oak and stony minerals. Full-bodied and dry on the palate, spanning citrus and ripe stone fruit with a refreshing saltiness, closing in a long, persistent mineral finish.
Winemaking Process: Whole-bunch pressed, with free-run juice settling for 2 days before going into barrel. Alcoholic fermentation runs 8–10 weeks under cool conditions in old oak, using only natural ambient yeast. The wine rests on lees through 9 months of maturation before racking, assembly and a further month of settling.
Winemaker: Radford Dale was founded in 1998 by winemakers Alex Dale and Ben Radford, who met in Burgundy and reconnected years later at Longridge in Stellenbosch. British-born Dale spent a decade in Burgundy — including time at Jacques Prieur in Meursault — before moving to post-apartheid South Africa in 1994; Barossa-bred Radford later returned home to make wine there. Together they built Radford Dale from two winemakers borrowing cellar space into two wineries, one on Stellenbosch's Helderberg Mountain and a fully organic estate in Elgin.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
