Gabrielskloof Madame Lucy's Brut Sparkling Methode Cap Classique 2021
A cheeky little bubbly that still spent 22 months on crown cap before anyone was allowed to drink it.
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, whole-bunch pressed from Gabriëlskloof's vineyards near Bot River in the Overberg, South Africa, a cool maritime region close to Walker Bay. Made in the traditional Méthode Cap Classique style, with a second fermentation in bottle.
Taste Profile: A racy, almost crunchy wine balancing the tartness of lemongrass, Chinese pear and quince with more developed notes of bruised Golden Delicious apple and brioche. A beeswaxy texture coats the palate, with a gentle, integrated mousse reminiscent of grower Champagne.
Winemaking Process: After fermentation, the wine rests on lees for about six months before the components are blended and bottled in May 2021. A second fermentation takes place under crown cap, followed by a further 22 months in bottle before disgorgement at zero dosage at the end of March 2023 — nine months minimum on lees in total.
Winemaker: Gabriëlskloof was bought in 2001 by Bernhard Heyns to build a vineyard on this 178-hectare farm near Bot River. Peter-Allan Finlayson, son of Hemel-en-Aarde pioneer Peter Finlayson of Bouchard Finlayson and the winemaker behind acclaimed single-vineyard label Crystallum, arrived as cellar master in 2014, ushering in a new era for the farm's Landscape Series and Projects Range.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
