Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Sangiovese, from estate vineyards in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, within the Rosso di Montalcino DOC, Tuscany, Italy. Directly facing the towering mass of Mount Amiata to the southeast of Montalcino, San Giorgio is situated on the rocky, steep slopes around the town of Castelnuovo dell'Abate. Tempering Mediterranean breezes give this area a favourable climate, above the deep valley of the Orcia river. Grapes are selected and harvested entirely by hand when fully ripe, at the beginning of October.
Taste Profile: Ciampoleto is characterised by an intense garnet red colour with slight violet reflections. The nose is broad and intense, with hints of cherries and plums, enriched with pleasant notes of milk chocolate. On the palate it is harmonious and full, with a persistent and fruity aftertaste. On the nose, fruity with ripe berries as well as autumnal flowers. Smooth, supple, and fresh on the palate, with delicate tannins that give it a very nice structure — moderate in body and very accessible, a classic fruity red with great character and finesse. Hazelnuts, red-plum purée, and treacle tart round out the profile. Pairs beautifully with poultry, beef, veal, game, or pasta.
Winemaking Process: Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, followed by a second malolactic fermentation. Ageing takes place for the first 4–6 months in French oak barrels, for another 6 months in Slavonian oak barrels, and finally for a further 6 months in bottle. Rosso di Montalcino is the region's younger-style Sangiovese, in contrast to Montalcino's more refined, more age-able Brunellos — built for earlier, more immediate enjoyment, but still carrying the structural seriousness of the appellation

Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
