Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Riesling from the Wachau. Drinkable history, matured with the kind of barrel-aged immortality that makes Nikolaihof something like the great old Rioja of Wachau white wine — unique and iconic.
Taste Profile: A shy and purist bouquet that smells so young and vital, it'll be a surprise in any blind tasting. It shows spice in the form of herbs and tobacco, developing into ripe apricot and plum expressiveness, with a grippy tannic structure that gives it textural bite. Ethereal through and through.
Winemaking Process: The wine matures in oak barrels for over 15 years, released ready to drink, though it can be aged for much longer still in bottle.
Winemaker: With almost 2,000 years of history, Nikolaihof is the oldest winery in Austria and among the first in the world to farm biodynamically under the Demeter Association's standards. The Saahs family took over the estate in 1894, continuing the integrated farming the monks before them had practiced; even as winemaking expanded through the 1960s, no chemicals were ever used. Nikolaihof has farmed biodynamically since 1971 — one of the longest-practicing biodynamic estates anywhere — and became Demeter-certified in 1998, today producing around 95,000 bottles a year.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
