Domaine des Marnes Blanches Côtes du Jura Savagnin "Les Molates" 2023
Savagnin without the flor — Jura's most famous grape made in a fresh, non-oxidative style that has nothing to do with vin jaune.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Savagnin from the Les Molates vineyard in Sainte-Agnès, South Revermont, Côtes du Jura — around 20-year-old vines on Lias marl, the same blue-grey clay-limestone that underpins the domaine's Chardonnay from the same site, here showing Savagnin's more mineral, saline register instead.
Taste Profile: Green apple, citrus pith and hay-like herbal notes over a taut, saline, saliva-inducing finish — tense and energetic rather than nutty or oxidative. Good with Comté, oysters, or grilled fish.
Winemaking Process: Hand-harvested, direct-pressed and fermented on native yeast, then aged around 10 months in tuns and barrels kept topped up (ouillé) — the opposite of the deliberately-unfilled barrels used for vin jaune, which is what keeps this Savagnin fresh rather than sherry-like.
Winemaker: Pauline and Géraud Fromont have farmed Domaine des Marnes Blanches organically since taking over the estate in 2006, certified since 2013. Sainte-Agnès sits in the Jura's less-fashionable south, which the couple has used to their advantage, working old vines and varied soils without the pressure to make wine in the region's most famous — and most oxidative — styles.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
