Alsace Gewürztraminer touched by noble rot, then left in barrel without topping up for three and a half years — a natural wine built entirely on patience.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Gewürztraminer from organically farmed vineyards belonging to the Bannwarth family in Obermorschwihr, Alsace — the grapes hung late into the season and picked up noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), the same fungus behind Sauternes, which concentrates sugar and flavour rather than simply rotting the fruit.
Taste Profile: Dried apricot, candied ginger and orange marmalade, with a nutty, sherry-adjacent edge from years of oxidative ageing — rich and complex rather than sweet-forward, built for blue cheese or something equally stubborn.
Winemaking Process: Grapes direct-pressed the day of harvest, fermented in fibreglass tanks over the winter, then racked in spring 2021 into old barrels left deliberately un-topped for a further three and a half years — a sous-voile-adjacent, oxidative style that lets barrel ageing do the concentrating rather than added sugar. Bottled at 500ml, unfined, unfiltered, with no added sulfur.
Winemaker: Anders Frederik Steen, a Danish figure well known across Europe's natural wine scene, and Anne Bruun Blauert settled in Valvignères, Ardèche in 2016; Anders has been making wine since 2013. This cuvée is sourced from a grower he trusts in Alsace rather than his own vines — a reminder that what matters to him is the fruit and the patience, not the postcode.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
