For purists, there's nothing quite like the Saar: intensity without weight, grandiosity without size.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Riesling from vines up to 100 years old in the village of Ayl on the Saar, Germany, off blue-grey Devonian slate soils in sites including the famed Kupp vineyard.
Taste Profile: Fresh and vibrant, with good weight and balance. The mousse is fine and gentle, with good length and power finishing on nutty white almond notes.
Winemaking Process: Made by traditional bottle fermentation, the same method used for Champagne, and aged on lees in bottle for 12 to 20 months before disgorgement in the cellar of the historic Joh. Förster winery in Trier-Süd.
Winemaker: Weingut Peter Lauer has farmed the steep slate slopes of Ayl on the Saar since 1830, one of the coolest, most precise corners of the Mosel. Fifth-generation winemaker Florian Lauer took over in 2006 after studying oenology at the École Nationale in Montpellier, France, and has built a reputation for dry-tasting, natural-yeast-fermented Rieslings that stand in deliberate contrast to the sweeter styles of his famous Saar neighbours. Lauer's best sites, including Kupp, Saarfeilser and Schonfels, were admitted to the VDP in 2013, and his wines are prized for their purity, precision and singular sense of balance.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
