Left Coast Cellars Latitude 45° Pinot Noir releases abundant red cherry, cinnamon, clove and black tea aromas. The aromas follow through to the palate, where it reveals further accents of red plums, smoked meat and leather. The medium-bodied palate is dry with a bright acidity, finely interwoven tannins and a lingering mineral finish.
Fun Fact: Named "Latitude 45°" since this part of the country shares the same latitude as some of France’s most prestigious winemaking regions.
100% Pinot Noir. Dijon clone from an old vine site and single vineyard in Willamette Valley, Oregon. The Latitude 45 vineyard is directly intersected by the 45th parallel, like many of the great vineyard properties of France. Below the shallow soil is fractured silt stone, containing sea shells and fossils. Just above the Latitude 45 vineyard is the second largest erratic boulder in the State of Oregon.
Handpicking of the fruit. Fermentation with 35% in open top oak fermenters and 65% in stainless steel. The wine ages in French oak (60% new, 40% neutral) for 18 months.
From Barolo to Bordeaux, these wines are steeped in tradition. The style covers a broad spectrum of flavor profiles, but tend to be elegant and structured and can be cellared for a long time.
These wines often have savoury tones of earth, bell pepper, tobacco, cassis, and are often medium to full bodied, with long finish & structured palattes
