Oregon, USA
The Oregon wine region in the USA, located in the Pacific Northwest, is known for its cool climate and its focus on sustainable and organic viticulture. Pinot Noir is one of it's main grapes, with about 60% of production, and PInot Gris is the second with about 15%.
One of the most acclaimed regions is Willamette Valley, where the hillsides are composed of volcanic, loess and sedimentary soils, all of which lend their own characters to the grapes grown in their soils, and mirrors the setup in Rhone Côte d’Or. Oregon Pinot offers a ‘value’ entry point into the world of premium Pinot that the likes of Burgundy and California increasingly struggle to provide.
Other regions in Oregon include the Umpqua Valley and Rogue Valley, which produce a wider variety of wines, including Syrah, Tempranillo, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
