Grape varietals & region: 53% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot. The fruit comes from Château Palmer's biodynamic vineyards in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux, France: 66 hectares of gravelly soil and grassy rows overlook the Gironde estuary.
Taste profile: Chateau Palmer Alter Ego de Palmer is precise, without excess. Very deep purple-black colour. Complex and aromatic nose of violets, cherries, leather and forest floor notes. The dry and medium-bodied palate has plush velvety tannins, crisp acidity and a plummy fruit core. Flavours of fresh black plums, mulberries, cherries and red currants are touched by dark chocolate and forest floor nuances.
Fermentation takes place in conical, stainless steel vats in varying sizes, to permit each variety and parcel to be fermented separately for subsequent selection and blending. Ages for up to 20 months in barrel, of which less than 50% is new.
Ageing potential: Promises splendid ageing potential. Drink now or keep until 2035.
