Stefan Vetter Sylvaner Steinterrassen Muschelkalk 2019 is a wine that embodies the essence of the Sylvaner grape variety and the unique terroir of the Steinterrassen Muschelkalk vineyard. Crafted by talented winemaker Stefan Vetter, this wine offers a captivating experience for enthusiasts seeking the distinct character of Sylvaner.
Grape Varietal & Region: This wine is made from the Sylvaner grape variety from the Steinterrassen Muschelkalk vineyard. The vineyard is located in the Franconia region of Germany, known for producing exceptional Sylvaner wines.
Taste Profile: This wine is a true reflection of its terroir, offering a textured and powerful expression of Sylvaner. The Muschelkalk soils, characterized by limestone and fossilized shells, impart a distinct mineral character to the wine. On the nose, delicate floral aromas mingle with ripe stone fruits and a touch of citrus zest. On the palate, vibrant acidity refreshes the senses, while flavors of green apples, pears, and white peach create a harmonious and engaging taste profile. The wine exhibits both depth and finesse, with a long, mineral-driven finish.
Winemaking Process: Stefan Vetter follows organic and biodynamic winemaking practices. The grapes are carefully hand-harvested to ensure optimal ripeness and quality. The grapes are whole-cluster pressed without any maceration or crushing and put directly into old/neutral barrels. The wine is topped up while in barrel, but not sulfured. The wines are normally racked only once and then bottled unfined and unfiltered with lower SO2
Stefan Vetter is a highly regarded winemaker who is passionate about organic and biodynamic viticulture. He believes in minimal intervention and allows the unique characteristics of the grape variety and terroir to shine through in his wines. His commitment to quality and authenticity has earned him recognition as one of the top producers in the Franconia region.
From the limestone character of Sancerre to the green, herbaceous Sauvignon Blanc of Marlborough, this style group often shows off cut grass and wet stone. Often associated with coastal regions or limestone based terroir, these wines are characterised with crisp acidity, mineraiity, citrus tones, with a hint of grassiness
