L.A.S. Vino "Barrels of Metricup" Chardonnay 2021
Made by the grandson of Margaret River's founding family — who deliberately doesn't own a single vine.
Grape Varietals & Region: From the heart of Metricup, Margaret River: twenty-two-year-old 'gin-gin' Chardonnay grown in a sandy loam topsoil over a mottled clay subsoil.
Taste Profile: An attractive bouquet of white peach, grilled nectarine, flint and raw cashew. Bright and fresh, with excellent intensity and drive, plenty of mealy nougat complexity building toward the finish, which runs long and mealy.
Winemaking Process: Hand-picked, chilled, hand-selected and whole-bunch pressed prior to fermentation in ten barriques, two of which were new. The wine undergoes a full malolactic fermentation with fortnightly lees stirring prior to 10 months of maturation in barrique before blending, and is bottled unfined with a light filtration.
Winemaker: L.A.S. — Luck, Art and Science — is the label of Nic Peterkin, grandson of Cullen Wines founders Kevin and Diana Cullen and son of Pierro founder Dr Mike Peterkin. He cut his teeth on vintages at Pierro, Herdade do Esporão in Portugal and Casa Madero in Mexico before finishing a master's in oenology at the University of Adelaide, then launched L.A.S. Vino in 2013 to make styles new to Margaret River. Deliberately vineyard-less, Peterkin instead leans on close relationships with growers across the region to source exactly the fruit each wine needs.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
