Geyerhof Wild Wux Grüner Veltliner 2023
A family that's farmed the same Kremstal hillside since the 1500s now devotes part of it to protecting the wild things living alongside the vines.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Grüner Veltliner from deep loess soils, part of Geyerhof's "Wild Wux" project, which sets aside nature conservation measures across the estate's fields to protect habitats for endangered plant and animal species alongside the vineyards.
Taste Profile: Pale gold in colour, with great depth on the nose — pear and earthy notes leading into ripe apple and apricot on the palate, followed by layers of delicate blossom honey and white pepper. Fine acidity and good length.
Winemaking Process: Manually harvested into small boxes in mid-October, then whole-bunch pressed. Slow fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by 4 months of ageing on full lees. Vegan.
Winemaker: The Maier family's roots in the hilltop village of Oberfucha in Kremstal go back to the 16th century, when the family first worked the land in agriculture and brickmaking; the estate itself has been farmed since 1072, one of the oldest continuously worked sites in the region. Ilse Maier and her son Josef run Geyerhof today, having farmed the Oberfucha hillsides organically since 1988 — among the earliest in Austria to do so — and added Demeter biodynamic certification in 2019, even though Ilse herself doesn't consider biodynamics a "step up" from organic, just a different approach to the same land.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
