Geyerhof Ried Hoher Rain Grüner Veltliner 2024
A former mining site, now growing some of Kremstal's silkiest Grüner Veltliner.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Grüner Veltliner from Geyerhof's Ried Hoher Rain vineyard. Mining activity took place beneath this site a century ago; today its sandy-loam soils, rich in nutrients and with strong water-storage capacity, grow Grüner Veltliner with an elegant, silky character quite different from the estate's rockier Premier Cru sites.
Taste Profile: Elegant fruit flavours and a silky character. Pale gold in the glass, with fresh pear and apple aromas on the nose, a yeasty richness, and delicate herb accents of mint and white pepper. The medium-bodied palate has invigorating acidity, a silky texture and good substance — pure Veltliner fruitiness with juicy grapefruit and lemon citrus, pear and peach-in-syrup flavours, finishing on stony mineral and honey. Drink until 2032.
Winemaking Process: Manual harvesting of the fruit in small boxes at the start of October, followed by whole-bunch pressing. Slow fermentation in stainless steel tanks, with ageing on full lees for 5 months. Vegan.
Winemaker: Geyerhof is run by winemaker Ilse Maier, who took over her family's Kremstal estate and converted it to organic and biodynamic farming. She works the poor, rocky granulite soils of single sites like Steinleithn and Kirchensteig with a light touch, favouring late harvesting, low yields and long lees ageing over intervention — an approach that's made Geyerhof one of the region's most respected names for terroir-driven Grüner Veltliner and Riesling.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
