Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs 2019
The linear purity of a classic Blanc de Blancs, built from the finest Chardonnay lots on Gusbourne's own English estate.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Chardonnay, hand-picked in October from Gusbourne's vineyards on a south-facing ancient escarpment in Appledore, Kent, and near Goodwood in West Sussex, England. Kent's soils are largely clay with sand and seashell subsoils, while West Sussex is predominantly chalk with flint loam, both warmed by moderating coastal breezes from the nearby Channel.
Taste Profile: Pale golden colour with a fine mousse. The nose is full of ripe citrus, pink grapefruit and pear with white floral notes. On the palate, generous fruit flavours of ripe lemon, nectarine and crunchy green apple meet a flinty, saline minerality, with toasted brioche, shortbread and hazelnut adding layers of complexity through to an elegant, energetic finish — a natural match for freshly shucked oysters.
Winemaking Process: Whole-bunch pressed and naturally settled for 24–36 hours, then fermented for 10 days at 18–20°C using specialist sparkling wine yeast, mostly in temperature-controlled stainless steel with a small percentage in old oak barrels for complexity. Aged on lees for a minimum of 42 months.
Winemaker: Gusbourne's estate crest dates back to 1410, when nobleman John de Gosbourne first owned the land, and the estate's three geese still appear on its labels today. The modern winery was founded in 2004 by Andrew Weeber, a South African-born orthopaedic surgeon, with a simple aim: to produce English sparkling wine to rival the best in the world. Chief winemaker Charlie Holland, a three-time IWSC English Wine Producer of the Year, has helped build Gusbourne's reputation for wines with real ageing potential.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
