Domaine Catherine & Pierre Breton "Pierres Rousses" Vouvray 2023
A love story between Bourgueil and Vouvray, told through 55-year-old vines on a floor of flint.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Chenin Blanc from 55-year-old vines growing in the "pierres rousses" (clay and flint) soils of the Vouvray terroir, Loire Valley.
Taste Profile: A charming, direct and convivial wine — racy, dry Chenin with a deep, textural palate built on that flinty floor.
Winemaking Process: Hand-harvested with sorting both in the vineyard and the storehouse to guard against grey rot, then pressed twice, pneumatically, for 3.5 hours. The clear juice is separated from sediment after 24 hours in tank, and alcoholic fermentation runs slowly in barrel over 1–2 years. The wine ages 10 months in 400-litre barrels, is bottled in September at under 2 grams of residual sugar and 40mg/L total SO2, and is filtered to reduce microbial risk — allowing the estate to use less sulphur overall.
Winemaker: Catherine and Pierre Breton met at a Loire wine fair, bringing together her family's Vouvray and his family's Bourgueil — the Breton family has worked the land in Restigné since 1886, with Catherine and Pierre now the fifth generation. After taking over in 1985, they converted to organic farming in 1991 and were among the first in the Loire to bring biodynamic practices to Cabernet Franc; by 1995 Pierre was vinifying without added sulphur. The estate now farms 17 hectares across Bourgueil, Chinon and Vouvray.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
