Bolyki Es Bolyki "Egri Bikavér" Superior 2015
Eger's "Bull's Blood," built the traditional way from six different grapes rather than any single variety.
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend of Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch), Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Zweigelt, Blauburger and Portugieser, from Bolyki's vineyards in Eger, Hungary, on brown forest soils in a cool climate.
Taste Profile: Deep ruby with a spicy nose that opens into blackberry and blueberry fruit, then chocolate and pepper. Rich and chewy on the medium-bodied palate, with tight tannic structure, lively acidity, and dark cherry and blackcurrant flavours layered with vanilla, leather and a long mineral finish.
Winemaking Process: Spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel, then 18 months' ageing in 500-litre oak barrels, unfiltered before bottling.
Winemaker: János Bolyki built this estate from 11 hectares planted in 1998 into more than 27 today, transforming an abandoned medieval stone quarry on Eger's edge into his winery along the way. Egri Bikavér Superior represents his minimal-intervention take on Eger's most storied style, blending six varieties the traditional way rather than leaning on any single grape.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
