Domaine Adrien Berlioz Cuvée des Gueux Rouge 2025
Half Mondeuse, half Persan — one of Savoie's oldest grapes paired with one of its rarest, off 15-year-old limestone vines.
Grape Varietals & Region: A 50/50 blend of Mondeuse and Persan, two of Savoie's own red grapes, off 15-year-old vines grown on limestone soils around Chignin. Persan in particular is a near-extinct variety that all but disappeared from the region before a handful of growers — Adrien Berlioz among them — started replanting it; pairing it with the more familiar Mondeuse makes for a red that's every bit as Savoyard as the estate's whites.
Taste Profile: Juicy and direct — ripe cherry and dark plum fruit, lifted by bright acidity and smoothed out by fine, unobtrusive tannin. Elegant rather than brawny, this is a mountain red built for drinking rather than cellaring — try it slightly cool with charcuterie or a simple roast chicken.
Winemaking Process: Farmed organically since 2012 and biodynamically since 2020, with meticulous manual work through the growing season and minimal intervention in the cellar — native yeasts, no fining or filtration beyond what the wine needs to show clean.
Winemaker: Adrien Berlioz built this estate up from a tiny family plot in 2006 into roughly 5 hectares spread across 17 parcels, and cuvées like this one are where his curiosity really shows — reviving a grape as obscure as Persan isn't the easy path, but it's exactly the kind of quietly stubborn choice that's made his wines some of the most sought-after in the Savoie.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
