The all-female team who took over this Montepulciano estate didn't bottle a single drop under their own name until 1989 — now it's the everyday red poured across three generations of the same family.
Grape Varietals & Region: 80% Sangiovese, with Merlot and Canaiolo at 10% each, from a south-east-facing vineyard 250–300m up in Abbadia di Montepulciano, Tuscany — Vino Nobile di Montepulciano country. Only around 25,000 bottles are made each year.
Taste Profile: Blueberry and blackberry aromas up front, with subtle sweet spice underneath. On the palate, a burst of red fruit and spice, refined tannins and firm acidity holding it all in balance. Good with semi-hard cheese or a hearty ragù.
Winemaking Process: Fermented with a 15-day maceration at no more than 30°C, then aged around ten months across small and medium oak barrels, followed by at least 8 months resting in bottle before release.
Winemaker: Villa Sant'Anna is one of the oldest wineries on the hills around Montepulciano, with the Fabroni family's winemaking tradition stretching back close to two centuries. For years the estate sold its wine off in bulk — it wasn't until 1989 that Simona Ruggeri and her daughters, Anna and Margherita, bottled their first wine under the estate's own name, followed by their first Vino Nobile in 1993 and this Rosso di Montepulciano in 1999.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
