Envínate "Albahra" Tinto 2021
Meaning "small sea," this is a remarkably pure, bright wine from cult producer Envínate, bursting with fresh red fruit and incredible minerality.
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend of Garnacha Tintorera (aka Alicante Bouschet) and the rare Moravia Agria. The Garnacha Tintorera comes from a 3-parcel vineyard on clay-calcareous soils; the Moravia Agria — a high-acid, low-alcohol blending grape of which barely 50 hectares remain in Spain — comes from a single vineyard on sandy clay-calcareous soils in neighbouring Manchuela, pruned to yield larger grapes.
Taste Profile: A pure, high-toned nose of ripe floral red fruit, with hints of spice and bursting minerality. Earthy fruit and fresh acidity make this an approachable, highly enjoyable and versatile food wine.
Winemaking Process: All grapes are hand-harvested and vinified separately by parcel. The Garnacha Tintorera is foot-trodden in vat with 30-50% stems included and sees 6-10 days of skin maceration, then ferments and is raised on fine lees in concrete for 8 months; the Moravia Agria is fully destemmed, macerated for 7 days, then pressed and raised on fine lees in used French barriques for 8 months, without battonage. The two are then blended and bottled unfined, unfiltered and with very little sulphur added.
Winemaker: Envínate is the project of four friends — Roberto Santana, Alfonso Torrente, Laura Ramos and José Martínez — who met studying oenology at the University of Miguel Hernández in Alicante from 2005. None come from winemaking families; a shared passion for wine led them from a winemaking consultancy into Envínate, a project built around distinctive, Atlantic-influenced parcels in Ribeira Sacra and the Canary Islands. No chemicals are used across any of their vineyards, all fruit is hand-picked, grapes are foot-trodden, and every wine ferments exclusively with wild yeasts, with production reaching around 140,000 bottles a year.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
