Famous for it's age-worthy dry red wines, including some are the most expensive wines globally. There's a wide range of wines from Bordeaux, including white & sweet wines, which makes it's appellation system quite confusing to navigate.

North Macedonia

North Macedonia is a country that's right in the middle of the Balkan region, as well as today's modern Caucasus region. The region itself has a rich winemaking history, dominated by red wine making. It is a landlocked country bordering Greece, Albania, and Bulgaria. While it has some international grape varietals, much of the production centers around 2 native varieties, Vranec & Kratosija. Don't mix it up with Greek Macedonia!

Bulgaria

Bulgaria is a small but important wine country, especially in wine history. At one point, it was the 4th largest wine producer in the world, although many of us outside of the Soviet Union in the 1970s & 80s would probably have never tried a single drop of it, but it's slowly becoming a trending wine region as winemakers overcome the political-social struggles the country has endured in the last few decades.

Cherry & chocolate. Reminds you of a decadent dessert? Well that's Malbec for you! Loved for it's dark cherry notes, soft tannins, & a chocolately finish, it's a common blending grape with Cabernet Sauvignon, but stands well on it's own.
