Vineyard Spotlight
Quinta da Romaneira
Romaneira is one of the largest estates in the region with a total of 412 hectares and 3 kilometres of river frontage on the river Douro. The vineyards are planted on terraces on the steeply sloping hills of the property. All wines are made exclusively from grapes from their vineyard.
Maçanita Irmāos e Enólogos
The Maçanita Vinhos project was created by the Maçanita siblings in the Douro in 2011. Working side by side in over 14 wineries around the country, Joana and António wanted the Maçanita project to reflect the experiences and aspirations of the two siblings and winemakers. Lots of laughter, lots of arguments and an ethos of questioning the existing way of doing things.
Alves de Sousa
The Alves de Sousa family has been producing wines in Portugal for several generations, initially supplying fruit and wine to other port companies. When Domingos Alves de Sousa inherited his family’s quintas in 1987, he began producing wine under the family name.
Lismore Estate Vineyards
Tucked into the foothills of a dramatic mountain range at the bottom of Africa is Lismore Estate Vineyards. Californian Samantha O'Keefe has found paradise and the perfect terroir. Her passion combined with vines planted at 300 meters, chilled by the winter snow and nourished by the African summer sun, produce classic cool climate wines which are rich, complex and lovingly hand crafted.
