Westcott Vineyards Estate Reserve Chardonnay 2021
A Toronto couple sold their house in 2008, moved to Niagara, and built a garage-made Chardonnay into an estate wine.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Chardonnay from Westcott Vineyards' "Home Farm," a 16-hectare vineyard in the Vinemount Ridge appellation of the Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, Canada, sitting at 170 metres altitude with a 3% southeasterly slope. The soils are pockets of Beverly and Cashel clay loams and alluvium till along the creek that crosses the property, over very deep, extremely calcareous Halton clay till and the dolostone and limestone bedrock of the Niagara Escarpment.
Taste Profile: A wow factor you won't want to miss. Pale lemon colour in the glass, with rich aromas of white stone fruit, peach and vanilla. Dry and full-bodied on the palate, with a creamy texture, crisp acidity and incredible length — baked apple, a generous dose of bright lemon citrus, and hints of brioche and caramel/butterscotch, closing on a long, toasty finish.
Winemaking Process: After fermentation, the wine ages in a special selection of French oak barrels.
Winemaker: Westcott Vineyards was started by Grant Westcott and his wife Carolyn Hurst, a Toronto couple who sold their home in 2008 to move to Niagara full-time after buying the farm in 2006. Grant, who grew up in Southern Ontario tobacco country before a career in banking and tech, planted 26 acres on the Vinemount Ridge and made the winery's first vintage in 2012 in true garagiste style — fermenting in the equipment barn while the main winery building was still going through permits.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
