An orange Gewürztraminer born from a late night of wine and conversation — eight months on skins, zero additions, defiantly bone-dry.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Gewürztraminer, biodynamically farmed at Nikolaihof in the Wachau. Semicolon is a side project from Nikolaus "Niki" Saahs of Nikolaihof and his partner Katharina Salzgeber — an independent label built on the idea that, like a semicolon, the wines aren't bound by conventional grammar or convention. This particular wine traces back to a 2017 conversation between the two about what would happen if Gewürztraminer were approached completely differently: different harvest timing, different processing, different ageing.
Taste Profile: Cloudy orange with amber reflections; earthy, smoky aromas of stone alongside dry grasses, rose petal, green pepper and orange peel, with a striking sparkling intensity and freshness. Bone-dry and vivid — a Gewürztraminer that actively defies the grape's usual sweet, perfumed reputation.
Winemaking Process: Aged entirely on the mash (100% skin contact) for eight months in used wood, with absolutely nothing added or taken away — no fining, no stabilisation, no filtration, no sulphur.
Winemaker: Niki Saahs grew up around Nikolaihof's long-standing biodynamic practice, and Semicolon is where he and Katharina Salzgeber get to push further than the family estate's core range allows — using the same biodynamically farmed fruit but taking the winemaking decisions to their logical, occasionally radical extreme.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
