Riesling from one of the world's longest-running biodynamic estates — farmed Demeter since 1971, in a UNESCO World Heritage stretch of the Danube.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Riesling from the Vom Stein vineyard, 5.25 hectares on a gentle east-facing slope on the eastern edge of the Silberbichel, southeast of the village of Mautern — soil of gneiss with mica inclusions and loess. Nikolaihof is among Austria's biodynamic pioneers, farmed to Demeter standards since 1971, making it one of the longest continuously biodynamic estates anywhere in the world.
Taste Profile: Green apple, citrus and white peach over a mineral core, with delicate herbal nuances running underneath. Light-footed and precise, with vibrant acidity and a juicy stone-fruit finish — Federspiel is the Wachau's middle weight class, riper than Steinfeder but lighter than Smaragd. Moderate alcohol keeps it easy to drink.
Winemaking Process: Fermented and aged in large, old wooden casks — no new oak, no shortcuts, biodynamic fruit handled with as little intervention as possible.
Winemaker: The Saahs family has run Nikolaihof for generations, with current custodian Nikolaus "Niki" Saahs continuing a biodynamic commitment that predates almost every other estate in the country. Farming to Demeter standards since 1971 means Nikolaihof was doing this decades before biodynamics became fashionable — the wines are a direct expression of that patience.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
