Weightstone WE Sparkling 2024
A blend of Black Queen, Golden Muscat and three other hybrid grapes most wine drinkers have never heard of — traditional method, made in Taiwan.
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend of 33% Black Queen, 31% Golden Muscat, 18% Mussan, 13% Musann Blanc and 5% Honey Red, sourced from Taichung and Nantou in central Taiwan — all hybrid grape varieties bred to survive Taiwan's subtropical climate of heavy rain, heat and typhoons, rather than classic vinifera. Weightstone is part of a small wave of growers proving Taiwan's challenging climate can still produce serious, characterful wine, turning local hybrid varieties into genuine wine miracles rather than treating them as a compromise.
Taste Profile: Tropical and citrus-forward, with plum, orange and grapefruit notes — a genuinely novel flavour profile shaped by grapes that don't grow almost anywhere else in the world. Approachable, food-friendly and clearly built for everyday drinking rather than ceremony.
Winemaking Process: Traditional Champagne method with secondary fermentation in bottle — over a year on lees (tirage October 2024), finished with a 6g/L dosage. Just 2,510 bottles produced, part of Weightstone's experimental "WE" series exploring blends across multiple varieties and vintages.
Winemaker: Weightstone's whole project is built around proving that Taiwan's tricky, typhoon-prone subtropical climate doesn't have to mean second-rate wine — it means different wine, made from grapes bred specifically to survive conditions that would wreck classic European varieties. The WE series is where that philosophy gets playful: blending hybrid grapes most of the world has never tasted into something genuinely drinkable.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
