'Kinmonnishiki jikomi' simply means brewed from Kinmonnishiki, a rare Nagano rice variety known for real depth and richness rather than easy fragrance. Tanakaya keeps the winemaking deliberately clean and simple here, precisely so nothing gets in the way of what the rice itself brings to the glass.
Mizuo is Tanakaya Shuzoten's flagship, brewed in Iiyama, Nagano with spring water drawn from Mount Mizuo. This gold-label Kinmonnishiki bottling is the standard-bearer of the range and took Gold at the International Wine Challenge 2025.
Full-flavoured and quietly complex, with enough range to work chilled or gently warmed. A good starting point for anyone curious about what a single, unusual rice variety can taste like on its own.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
