Oshin Wines Areni Reserve 2021
Grape Varietal & Region: Areni is an ancient thick skinned, late ripening variety with medium tannins & medium to high acidity. Grapes are grown on 40-60 year old south-facing vineyards with volcanic soil, situated at 1500m above sea level.
Taste Profile: With elegant deep red color, this more extracted style of Areni is dominated by ripe black fruit & sweet oak. Powerful aromas of cherry, strawberry & subtle hint of smoke escape the glass. On the palate it has soft & silky texture rich in blackberry, bright red fruit and spicy flavors. A prolonged finish of red currants & lavender closes out the wine.
Winemaking Process: Hand harvested in small lots and hand sorted. Fermented in stainless steel and aged and matured in Caucasian oak barrels for 15 mos, yielding a wine that’s concentrated, complex and age-worthy.
