A Bolgheri pioneer's entry-point red — bright, perfumed, and a serious overachiever from the estate that vinified Bolgheri Rosso first.
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 10% Sangiovese, and 5% Petit Verdot, from the Grattamacco estate in the Bolgheri DOC, Tuscany, Italy. The grapes are grown in terraced vineyards at elevations between 100 and 200 metres, in soils of quartzose sandstone, white clay mixed with calcareous marl flysch, and red sands, under a temperate Mediterranean climate with frequent marine breezes. Situated in the higher-altitude reaches of Bolgheri, nestled among copious woods and craggy, forested hills, Grattamacco was the second winery to be founded in the appellation, in 1977, after Sassicaia — and one of the few estates to still maintain Sangiovese in its blend.
Taste Profile: The 2024 Bolgheri Rosso pours a youthful ruby/purple hue and is highly aromatic, with crushed wildflowers, black raspberry, cherry, orange, and refined herbal spice. Medium-to full-bodied, it's elegant and light on its feet, with fine tannins, balanced acidity, and a linear, graceful profile with mineral undertones, combining freshness with depth and finishing with excellent precision and length. Bright red/purplish fruit, mint, lavender, and mocha all grace this inviting, entry-level offering. Rated 91pts. Best enjoyed now through the next several years; ideal with hearty Tuscan dishes.
Winemaking Process: An organic blend, fermented in stainless steel and matured for a brief six months in neutral barrique. Grapes come from a quality selection of the youngest estate vineyards, combined with an initial harvest pass of the oldest vineyards. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel fermenters, where part of the wine remains for maturation, while the rest is moved to oak barrels for 8 months — vineyard management is based on practices totally respectful of the environment, encouraging spontaneous but never excessive grape production, an essential requirement for authentic terroir expression

Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
