A 1782-founded Grand Cru specialist's village-level Gevrey — same organic and biodynamic farming, friendlier price.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Pinot Noir from village-level Gevrey-Chambertin parcels, farmed by an estate founded in 1782 that holds 13.5 hectares across five Grand Crus, including a prized 0.33-hectare parcel of Chambertin-Clos de Bèze — the oldest walled plot in Burgundy, first established by monks in 630. Since December 2018 the domaine has been owned by the Bouygues and de Surrel families, continuing an organic and biodynamic farming commitment that Jean de Surrel initiated back in the 1980s; Bastien Giraud has run technical direction since 2023.
Taste Profile: Classic Gevrey-Chambertin structure and spice, built from the same biodynamically farmed fruit and meticulous standards the domaine applies to its Grand Cru holdings, just at village level — approachable now but built with enough backbone to reward a few years in the cellar.
Winemaking Process: Farmed organically and biodynamically across the estate; traditional Burgundian vinification with careful, low-intervention handling in the cellar.
Winemaker: Bastien Giraud took over technical direction in 2023, inheriting an estate that's been in near-continuous production since 1782 and has held some of Burgundy's oldest, most storied parcels — including part of the original Clos de Bèze — for generations. The Bouygues and de Surrel families' 2018 ownership brought fresh investment while keeping the organic and biodynamic farming Jean de Surrel began decades earlier firmly in place.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
