Description
Domaine des Deux Roches Saint Veran ‘Les Pommards’ 2020
Domaine des Deux Roches Saint Veran ‘Les Pommards’ is fresh, incisive and marked by a balanced minerality. Brilliant gold colour in the glass. Generous aromas of ripe apricots, white flowers and dried fruits. The elegant body has a bright acidity, beautiful minerality and closes with a fleshy white nectarine flavour.
100% Chardonnay. The fruit comes from "Les Pommards" vineyard in Davayé, on the northern slope of the extension of the Roche de Solutré. The vines face due south and experience a cool semi-continental climate with variations in temperature that favour slow maturation. The vines grow in the middle of the slopes on limestone soils with red clay that is rich in iron.
Manual harvesting of the fruit, which are then loaded by gravity into pneumatic presses. Long and slow pressing to delicately extract the juices and preserve aromatic finesse. Cooling and decanting of the must into barrels (less than 10% new) where vinification takes place. Ageing on fine lees in barrels.
