Dalamara "Paliokalias" Xinomavro 2021
Naoussa's 'Greek grand cru': old-vine, organic Xinomavro from a family farming here since 1840.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Xinomavro from the Paliokalias vineyard in Naoussa, northern Greece, at around 300 metres on the south-facing eastern foothills of Mount Vermio, with some vines over 85 years old. It is the estate's flagship, made only in top vintages, and The Wine Society's buyer rates 2021 as one of the best Naoussa vintages. Xinomavro is a pale, high-acid, high-tannin grape that loves to age.
Taste Profile: Pale in colour with intense black tea, cherry, incense and bramble aromas. The palate is wonderfully concentrated, with powerful but never intrusive tannins, brisk acidity and huge complexity. Jancis Robinson found it heady and voluptuous with a gamey edge, "grip and precision", and a very long dry finish. Oak is present but not obvious. About 13.5% ABV.
Winemaking Process: Fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel, then aged in oak for roughly a year. Sources vary on the size of the barrels and the exact time, from 300-litre to 500-litre barrels and 12 to 15 months. The estate is farmed organically and runs 100% on solar energy.
Winemaker: Kostis Dalamara is the sixth generation of a family growing grapes and making wine and tsipouro in Naoussa since 1840. He trained in Beaune, worked in Burgundy, Alsace and Catalonia, and farms 6 hectares: organic since 1996 and biodynamic (not certified) since 2008, working alongside his wife Maria.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
