Cigliuti "Campass" Barbera d'Alba 2023
A father-and-daughters operation in the heart of Barbaresco country, pouring 90% of their effort into the vineyard and letting the wine do the talking.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Barbera, from the Campass single vineyard within the Serraboella cru in Neive, Piedmont, Italy. The vineyard sits at 350 metres above sea level with a southeastern exposure, on clay-dominant soils, with vines averaging around 30 years of age. The Campass site is characterised by calcareous-clay soils that lend structure and a subtle mineral backbone to the wine. First produced in 2000, the wine sees an annual production of approximately 330 cases.
Taste Profile: The Barbera d'Alba Campass is another terrific effort from Cigliuti, with blue-toned fruit, lavender, spice, menthol, and chocolate all amplified. Ripe black cherry and plum are layered with violet, crushed stone, and sweet spices. The palate is plush yet poised, with juicy acidity lifting the wine's velvety texture and a savoury, graphite-tinged finish that lingers with energy. It showcases Barbera's hallmark freshness and vibrant acidity, balanced by generous fruit and careful élevage. Best enjoyed with roasted meats, charcuterie, or aged cheeses — and a classic pairing for roast duck.
Winemaking Process: Fermentation and maceration take place over 8–12 days in steel vats at controlled temperatures with indigenous yeasts. Ageing in French oak barrels, 20% new, works particularly well here — the natural concentration of this parcel marries beautifully with the French oak. The wine ages in a combination of new, second, and third-use barrique for 18 months prior to bottling

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
