A bottle that embodies a fascinating story about wine and war, made by brothers who manage their estate remotely from Beirut.
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend of 55% Chardonnay and 45% Sauvignon Blanc from a 20-hectare vineyard at 900-990m on Mount Bargylus in Latakia, Syria, facing the Mediterranean, with limestone-based soils mixed with clay and, in parts, flint.
Taste Profile: Fading yellow colour with light green reflections. The nose expresses exotic fruit aromas of papaya and lemon with a touch of saltiness. Elegant and round on the palate, keeping plenty of freshness thanks to good acidity, with the balance between sun-driven sweetness and limestone-driven salinity giving the wine a strong sense of place and an inimitable taste.
Winemaking Process: Hand-picked and sorted twice in the winery, then fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel with no oak. Harvest timing is decided remotely — grape samples from each variety and plot are sent by taxi to Beirut for tasting, since the brothers themselves manage the estate from outside Syria.
Winemaker: Domaine de Bargylus was founded in 2003 by brothers Karim and Sandro Saadé, with consulting winemaker Stéphane Derenoncourt. There isn't another winemaker in the world who faces the same challenges the Saadé brothers do: from war and stray mortar shells to taxing grape samples across borders and managing an entire estate remotely for over a decade, the brothers have beaten the odds to make one of the eastern Mediterranean's most consistently admired wines.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
