Weinhof Szemes "Glimmer Schiefer Weiss" Reserve 2022
From the same family behind Arachon T.FX.T, one of Austria's most admired Blaufränkisch.
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend of Chardonnay and Grüner Veltliner, from vines growing in the mica slate ("Glimmerschiefer") soils of Burgenland, Austria.
Taste Profile: Bright golden-yellow color. On the nose pineapple, mineral nuances and saline notes. On the palate full-bodied with a dynamic interplay of acidity and spice, balanced salinity, and subtle hints of orange, black pepper, and herbs. The lively acidity of Grüner Veltliner meets the richness and creaminess of Chardonnay, resulting in a fresh yet creamy wine with a long finish.
Winemaking Process: Fermented in large oak casks, followed by 6 months aging in large oak. The wine was then matured for 2 years in stainless steel tanks. Bâtonnage was applied to the Chardonnay.
Winemaker: In 1984 Tibor Szemes took over the family business, recognising early the quality of Central Burgenland's terroir and helping pioneer its négociant model alongside Ing. Josef Pusch of the Horitschon cooperative. Following the deaths of Tibor and his wife, their children Oscar and Anna now run the estate together, shifting focus toward estate vineyards and modernising the portfolio.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
