Muscadet the way its most restless modern producer thinks it should be made — biodynamic, aged in concrete eggs, and built to age rather than guzzle.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Melon de Bourgogne, grown on metamorphic rock in the Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine appellation of the Pays Nantais, Loire Valley — soils that give Jérôme Bretaudeau's wines their signature chalky drive.
Taste Profile: Limey citrus, salted lemon and oyster shell on the nose, with sourdough and stone notes adding complexity; the palate is tense and acid-driven, mealy in texture, saline and long, finishing deliciously austere and chalky with striking minerality.
Winemaking Process: Fermented and aged for 14 months in egg-shaped concrete tanks, keeping the lees in constant suspension to build a subtle creaminess around the wine's citrus core — a world away from the quick, stainless-steel Muscadet most drinkers know.
Winemaker: Jérôme Bretaudeau started with two hectares in Gétigné in 2001, converted to organic farming in 2009 and biodynamic in 2016 (Biodyvin-certified since 2020), and has become one of Muscadet's most inventive producers — ageing wine in everything from concrete eggs to clay amphorae to prove Melon de Bourgogne can be as serious as anything else in the Loire.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
