Delinquente Wine Co "Screaming Betty" Vermentino 2025
A rebel Riverland Vermentino from a winemaker who traded conventional South Australian grapes for the varieties of southern Italy.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Vermentino from the Riverland, South Australia.
Taste Profile: Structural and herbaceous, with lemon thyme grassiness holding the fort on the palate and a subdued citrus and stone-fruit push providing a counterpoint in the background. Classic Vermentino on the finish, with a briney, seaspray savouriness turned up a little — plenty of flavour and lovely acidity, old world in feel, and a unique interpretation of the grape.
Winemaking Process: Wild fermented in stainless steel, then spent 4 weeks on fine lees, stirred twice weekly, giving the wine a beautiful textural edge not often found in Australian Vermentino.
Winemaker: Con-Greg Grigoriou grew up on a Riverland vineyard, spending time in wineries alongside his father and grandfather, who between them managed vineyards for over 35 years. Small-batch, minimal-intervention wines he drank while travelling overseas inspired him to launch Delinquente Wine Co in 2013, starting with a tonne each of Vermentino and Montepulciano made in the corner of a 20,000-tonne Riverland winery. The name — Italian for "delinquent" — signals his unconventional approach: buying in fruit from trusted organic growers and championing southern Italian varieties suited to the Riverland's hot, dry Mediterranean climate, while staying largely hands-off in the winery.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
