A grape nearly lost to history, revived on a 70-year-old Barbera vineyard the Volpi family decided to replant.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Timorasso, an ancient and rare variety nearly extinct before its revival, from the La Zerba estate in Volpedo, in the limestone-rich hills of the Colli Tortonesi region of Piedmont, Italy.
Taste Profile: Enticing aromas of ripe stone fruits like peach and apricot mingle with citrus, white flowers and a touch of honey. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with a harmonious balance of fruitiness, minerality and refreshing acidity.
Winemaking Process: Grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, then gently pressed. The juice undergoes slow, controlled fermentation in stainless steel to preserve the grape's inherent aromas and freshness, before the wine is aged in oak barrels for added complexity and structure.
Winemaker: Cantine Volpi was founded in Tortona in 1914, when Cristina Volpi and her sons bought the "Il Cappel Verde" estate; the family has farmed the Tortona hills across four generations since, with Marco Volpi now at the helm as the fifth. In 2003 the Volpi family revived a 70-year-old Barbera vineyard at their La Zerba estate in Volpedo and planted their first Timorasso there, helping bring a nearly forgotten grape back into serious production. The estate farms roughly 10 hectares organically and was among the first Piedmont wineries to commit firmly to organic viticulture back in the 1990s, a practice that today covers 70% of its production.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
