For purists, there is nothing like the Saar. It is arguably one of the greatest, most unique wine-growing regions on earth. The core of greatness in the Saar is intensity without weight, grandiosity without size.
Florian’s general style is exactly the opposite of his famous Saar neighbor Egon Müller. At Lauer, the focus is on dry-tasting Rieslings as opposed to the residual sugar wines of the latter. When the vintage allows it, Florian will craft Prädikat wines, the Kabinetts, Spätlesen and Auslesen that we all know and once loved
Employing natural-yeast fermentations, Lauer’s wines find their own balance. They tend to be more textural, deeper and more broad-shouldered. Yet they have a preternatural sense of balance, an energy that is singular. Yet the hallmarks of the Saar are there: purity, precision, rigor, mineral.
Grape Varietals & Region: The grapes for this exceptional Kabinett come from the exclusive monopoly site Lambertskirch, a steep parcel high above the Saar River, not far from the renowned Ayler Schonfels. The site owes its name to the nearby Lambertus Chapel and was replanted at great expense in the 2010s by winemaker Florian Lauer
Taste Profile: It offers a most compelling and exquisitely herbal nose of chamomile, sage, lime tree, fine spices, mint leaf, orange blossom, and grapefruit zest. The wine proves intensely playful and packed into zesty flavors of herbs on the energetic and multi-layered palate and leaves a stunning feel of mouthwatering freshness with plenty of spices and salty elements in the gorgeously precise and focused finish. This is magnificent Kabinett in the making
Winemaking Process: The fully ripe grapes were carefully harvested by hand in October and pressed directly. The must was then allowed to settle overnight, allowing natural turbidity to settle to the bottom. The following day, the clear must was drawn off and fermented spontaneously, i.e. with natural yeasts, in a classic Mosel barrel. The result: a feather-light, crystal-clear Riesling Kabinett with only 7.5% alcohol by volume – finely balanced, juicy, and incredibly drinkable

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
