A unique oxidative wine, like no other.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Pedro Ximénez from Montilla-Moriles, Andalucía — a warm, chalk-and-clay appellation in southern Spain built almost entirely around the PX grape, prized here for the concentration it reaches under blistering sun before being fortified and set down to age oxidatively for decades.
Taste Profile: Amber in the glass, tinting toward copper tones when swirled. Intense, spicy and noble wood aromas lead to a glazed, fine-pastry note, with a saline, fresh undertone recalling raisined fruit. The palate is dry and sharp on entry, saline and mineral, closing on an elegant, lengthy bitter finish threaded with noble wood. Persistence, on both nose and palate, is remarkable.
Winemaking Process: This wine draws from the winery's foundational Solera, first laid down in 1922 when José María Toro Albalá began producing wine at Lagar del Carmen. After 10 years' ageing under a veil of flor in American oak butts, that protective veil begins to weaken and thin, triggering the start of a long, slow oxidative ageing that deepens and concentrates the wine.
Winemaker: José María Toro Albalá founded the winery in 1922 in the heart of Montilla-Moriles, building on family winemaking roots that reach back to 1844. Today the solera is tended by winemaker and enologist Antonio Sánchez, who has devoted his career to the Pedro Ximénez grape — treating each parcel, as he puts it, as if it were his own offspring — patiently building the reserves that have made Toro Albalá's name.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
