From one of the makers of Arachon T.FX.T, Weinhof Szemes produces one of the top Blaufränkisch in Austria.
In 1984 Tibor took over the family business. Tibor Szemes, a charismatic personality with vision and contacts all over the world, recognized the excellent terroir and grape quality of Central Burgenland as early as the early 1980s. With Ing. Josef Pusch, the then cellar master of the Horitschon cooperative, Tibor Szemes initiated the step to become a négociant.
Tibor’s son, Oscar took the place of his parents, who both died far too young. Together with his sister Anna, he is now continuing the traditional business, while evolving it to focus on estate vineyards, as well as modernizing the wine portfolio that they represent
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Blaufränkisch. Only the best grapes from vines that grow in the mica schist soils of central Burgenland (Mittelburgenland) come into question for the Blaufränkisch Reserve. At 470 metres altitude, the vineyards for this wine are among the highest in Burgenland.
Taste Profile: Weinhof Szemes Blaufränkisch Imperial Reserve is a compact wine with a strong colour and complex bouquet. The nose opens with cranberries, juniper and a hint of herbs. The full-bodied and dense palate has considerable depth, firm structure, close-meshed and fine tannins. Juicy blackberry, cranberry and blood orange flavours with a hint of woody tones last long into its elegant finish.
Winemaking Process: Selective manual harvest for perfectly ripe fruit. Fermentation and then storage on fine lees for 14 months in partly new 500L wooden barrels. The wine ages a few months in large barrels before it is drawn directly into the bottle.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
