The name of the wine estate goes back to the marriage of grandparents Paula Meyer and Willibald Näkel in 1950. They cultivated an area of just 1.5 hectares, yet were able to make a name for themselves because Willibald’s production of dry red wines represented thoroughly pioneering work at the time where German wine was simply always sweet.
Werner Nakel took over the estate in the 1980s, and is considered one of the most important vintners in Germany. Today, the winery is run by 3rd generation Meike and Dörte (with their parents Werner and Claudia Näkel), who have embraced their family’s passion and skill for winemaking, with a fresh take on the River Ahr, Slate and Pinot Noir.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris) from Baden, Germany. The fruit is planted on soils of limestone & loess.
Taste Profile: The light-bodied Hand in Hand Grauburgunder Meyer-Näkel & Klumpp flows into the glass with brilliant copper gold. The nose of this Meyer-Näkel & Klumpp white wine shows all sorts of star fruit, guava, quince, pears and apples. As if that wasn't already impressive, garrigue, green peppers and lovage join in due to the aging in small wooden barrels.
Winemaking Process: After the hand harvest, the grapes immediately reach the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks and small wood at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the Hand in Hand Grauburgunder can continue to harmonize on the fine lees for 5 months

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
