Florent Rouve Arbois Blanc Savagnin 2022
The grape behind Jura's legendary vin jaune, made here as a pure, walnut-scented still white by a winemaker who trained under a Burgundian legend.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Savagnin, from vineyards within the AOP Arbois and Côtes-du-Jura, part of the Jura's 1,865-hectare vineyard strip running north-south from Salins-les-Bains to Saint-Amour, bounded to the east by the first limestone plateau of the Jura Mountains and to the west by the plain of Bresse, in front of Burgundy along the same axis. Only white wine — Savagnin and Chardonnay — is produced here under these appellations. Savagnin is not to be confused with Sauvignon Blanc; it's a grape of murky, disputed origin, today best known as Jura's signature variety and the one behind the region's famous oxidative vin jaune.
Taste Profile: An alluring, shimmering golden yellow in the glass, with characteristic aromas of fresh walnuts, ginger, curry, almonds and mushrooms. A rare combination of finesse and power, with a remarkable lingering aftertaste — excellent balance between fullness and acidity, superb to the last drop, with surprising flavours of hazelnut and Comté.
Winemaking Process: Ageing begins on the lees without any stirring, to preserve the purity of the structure, and the wine spends 16 months maturing in barrel.
Winemaker: Florent Rouve took over winemaking at the Rijckaert estate in 2013, working alongside its founder Jean Rijckaert — the Burgundian legend behind Maison Verget — before establishing this range, Heritage de Calcaire, together with fellow winemakers Kevin Tessieux and Jean-Luc Terrier. Rouve splits his time between Burgundy and the Jura, united by a shared devotion to Chardonnay and Savagnin, and has kept Rijckaert's minimal-intervention approach intact: restricted yields, hand harvesting, slow pressing, indigenous yeasts, and long oak ageing left undisturbed.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
