Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Pinot Noir, a blend of the estate's Bannockburn vineyards — Cornish Point, Calvert, MacMuir and The Elms — in Central Otago, New Zealand.
Taste Profile: A vivid nose of deep florals: dark roses, violets and an undertow of ripe red fruit. The palate shows the best of each vineyard in the cuvée, with a pure but powerful drive of fruit on a perfect cusp of ripeness, complexing notes of sandalwood and spice, harmony and balance, transparency of fruit that lets the detail shine through, and silken tannins on the finish.
Winemaking Process: The estate's unique gravity-flow winery allows grapes to be gently destemmed directly into open-top fermenters without pumping, retaining 20% as whole clusters. Traditional fermentation with a moderately long maceration on skins extracts good colour, tannin and depth of flavour, and the wine is aged 13 months in 25% new French oak from artisan Burgundian coopers, fermented with indigenous yeast and malolactic, unfined and unfiltered.
Winemaker: Felton Road was founded in 1991 when retired ophthalmologist Stewart Elms identified north-facing schist slopes at the end of Felton Road in Bannockburn and planted the estate's first vines in 1992. In 1997 young winemaker Blair Walter, Elms' former lab partner at Lincoln University, built the winery from the ground up and made the inaugural vintage, a wine Robert Parker famously said could pass for Grand Cru red Burgundy in a blind tasting. In 2000, UK marketing entrepreneur Nigel Greening — by then Felton Road's largest private UK customer and owner of the adjacent Cornish Point orchard — purchased the estate from Elms and retained Walter as winemaker and co-owner. Together, Greening and Walter have built Felton Road's reputation around fastidious site selection and biodynamic viticulture (Demeter and Biogro certified), producing wines that speak clearly of their Central Otago vineyards.

Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
