Miguel Torres Cordillera Vigno Old Vines Carignan 2018
One of Chile's great rescued treasures, from vines that would otherwise have been pulled out of the ground.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Carignan from rain-fed vineyards within the coastal range of the Maule Valley, Chile, holding some of the oldest Carignan vines in the world, many over 80 years old. The vineyard sits on deep, well-drained red clay soil with a sandy loam surface turning to clay loam 70–180cm below, under a warm, arid climate with cold nights and ample rain.
Taste Profile: Opaque, intense ruby red colour. Floral and fruity aromas with a background of toasted oak. The full-bodied palate is broad and beautifully textured, with dark plum, blackberry and cherry flavours mingling with vanilla, prune, bay leaf and mint, closing on a long black-fruit-liqueur finish.
Winemaking Process: After picking and sorting, the grapes macerate for 16 days. Alcoholic fermentation lasts 10 days at 24°C in stainless steel, with malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels. Ages a further 14 months in French oak, 34% new and 66% second-fill.
Winemaker: Miguel Torres Chile was founded in 1979 when the Torres family, already carrying more than 140 years of Catalan winemaking history, became the first foreign winery to invest in Chile, buying vineyards in the Curicó Valley and Cordillera. The Cordillera range, launched in 1996 with that first Carignan, is built around showcasing a single emblematic Chilean valley per wine; the Maule Valley Carignan sits within VIGNO, the appellation Torres helped found in 2009 to protect the region's oldest dry-farmed Carignan vines from being pulled out.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
