Central Europe’s most well-travelled red grape, grown at the old empire’s eastern edge.
Grape Varietals & Region: Made from Blaufränkisch — known as Kékfrankos in Hungary and Lemberger in Germany and New York’s Finger Lakes — one of the most widely planted red varieties of the former Austria-Hungary, found from the modern Czech Republic all the way to western Ukraine, here grown in Transcarpathia. This is a semi-dry style, soft and easy-drinking, best served slightly chilled.
Taste Profile: A bright ruby wine with a pronounced fruity character: aromas of violet, blackcurrant, cherry, blackberry and light spice. The palate is mild, with delicate tannins, red fruit, dark berries and ripe plum, closing on a long, juicy aftertaste.
Winemaking Process: Fermentation is stopped early to retain a touch of natural residual sweetness in the semi-dry style, preserving the grape’s bright, juicy fruit character.
Winemaker: Produced at Chateau Chizay, the Transcarpathian estate founded in 1995 by Gennadiy Gutman, whose 272-hectare vineyard grows more than a dozen local and European varieties across three districts of the region.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
